Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Facilities Operations Supervisor to oversee custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff across district buildings. You will supervise, inspect, and coordinate services to maintain clean, safe, and orderly facilities, while leading training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

The role involves coordinating capital projects, liaising with district staff and agencies, and ensuring compliance with health and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of work experience in custodial services, building operations and maintenance or closely related field, including a minimum of two (2) years as a lead.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field; additional experience can substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Washington State driver's license and access to personal vehicle; City of Seattle Fourth Grade Stationary Steam Boiler License within six (6) months of hire.
• Knowledge, Skills And Abilities include proficiency with Microsoft Office products, oral and written communications, data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff to keep buildings in clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Coordinates capital projects and activities from initiation to completion.
• Inspects facilities and grounds to ensure District standards are met; documents deficiencies and coordinates repairs.
• Trains staff to ensure proper health and sanitation techniques and develops training for regular and on-call staff.
• Conducts performance appraisals and develops measurable goals; handles hiring, transfers and disciplinary actions.
• Investigates and tests new supplies, equipment and tools; maintains catalogs and price lists; manages inventory.
