Job summary

Seattle Central College is seeking a Custodial Services Supervisor to lead custodial, grounds, and routine maintenance operations on-site, Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week. The role emphasizes supervision, safety, budgeting, and collaboration with campus departments to ensure a clean, safe campus environment.

The position is full-time non-permanent, with potential to transition to permanent status, and requires 4+ years in custodial or related fields and a valid WA driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience in custodial services, grounds care, building maintenance, physical plant operations, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily facilities operations by planning, scheduling, and assigning custodial, grounds, and routine maintenance work across all shifts, adjusting priorities to meet changing campus needs.
  • Guide and develop employees through onboarding, training, technical direction, regular feedback, and clear expectations that support employee growth, accountability, and high-quality service.
  • Maintain safe and reliable facilities by inspecting buildings and grounds, identifying service and preventive maintenance needs, and helping ensure work meets applicable safety and environmental requirements.
  • Work alongside the team by providing hands-on assistance with skilled maintenance and supporting preventive maintenance of custodial equipment when needed.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and work orders by overseeing inspections, troubleshooting, scheduling, recordkeeping, and timely completion of assigned work.
  • Manage essential resources by evaluating and ordering supplies, equipment, materials, and services needed for custodial, grounds, waste, recycling, and routine maintenance operations.
  • Support responsible use of college resources by contributing to budget development, monitoring expenditures, estimating project costs, and identifying cost‑effective approaches and technologies.
  • Build effective partnerships with campus departments, contractors, Purchasing, project teams, and outside agencies to support safe, efficient, and coordinated facilities operations.
  • Improve programs and procedures by reviewing operational data, evaluating work methods, maintaining required records, and recommending updates that strengthen service delivery.
  • In partnership with the Maintenance Supervisor, coordinate minor maintenance and improvement projects by developing cost estimates, supporting project planning, and overseeing work completed by college employees or contractors in accordance with applicable requirements.
