Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a Facilities Operations Supervisor to lead custodial, grounds, and maintenance teams across district buildings. You will coordinate preventive maintenance, supervise diverse staff, and respond to facility requests while ensuring safety and quality standards.

You will recruit, train, and evaluate staff; develop procedures; and coordinate district-wide projects with building managers and principals. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Six years of work experience in custodial services, building operations and maintenance, including a lead role.
• Two years as a lead or equivalent supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
• City of Seattle Fourth Grade Stationary Steam Boiler License within six months of hire.
• Criminal Justice fingerprint and background clearance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff to keep buildings clean, safe, and orderly.
• Respond to client requests, complaints, and concerns; coordinate projects.
• Inspect facilities and grounds to uphold standards; document deficiencies.
• Recruit, interview, orient, and train new hires; conduct performance appraisals.
• Coordinate capital projects from initiation to completion; manage budgets and timelines.
• Assist in department administration, including reporting and committees.
• Respond to emergencies and after-hours building use; schedule staff accordingly.
• Develop staff training and professional development plans.
• Prepare progress reports for principals and building managers.
