Job summary

Akima is seeking a Facility Manager to oversee building and grounds maintenance, staff direction, and equipment upkeep. The role includes managing preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and energy efficiency initiatives on a large site, with responsibilities spanning budgeting, reporting, and vendor coordination.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of building systems, experience in maintenance management, and the ability to produce clear reports.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills to conduct meetings, execute plans and prepare reports, plans, and work instructions.
• Must be able to provide information and reports, resolve issues and recommend actions to improve delivery of services to customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a facility management program including preventative maintenance and life-cycle requirements.
• Conduct, document, and report regular facilities inspections.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes.
• Submit and monitor work orders for repair and ensure maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
• Collaborate with military representatives to obtain quotes and tenders from vendors and suppliers.
• Calculate and compare costs for goods and services to maximize cost-effectiveness and coordinate with Purchasing Clerk to prepare cost estimates.
• Generate and present regular reports and reviews of facility-related activities.
• Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives.
• Advise on and monitor energy efficiency.
• Assure security of the facility.
