Job summary

University of Illinois Extension in Champaign‑Urbana seeks a Facility Operations Coordinator to manage operations and security for multiple sites, including the Doris Kelley Christopher Illinois Extension Center. The role acts as the primary facility contact and oversees remodeling and maintenance activities.

The position is 100% full-time Civil Service 2378, appointed on a 12‑month basis, with a salary range of $55,000–$65,000 and benefits. Start date is as soon as possible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and/or two years in facility operations or related field.
• Preferred: experience with custodial, grounds, and housekeeping operations.
• Knowledge of basic structural, electrical, mechanical, and security systems; ability to read schematics and use common software tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Facilities & Services on custodial services and workspace readiness.
• Plan and coordinate remodeling, maintenance, and budget within facilities.
• Maintain inventory and records of equipment and university property.
• Schedule safety inspections and coordinate with local fire departments.
• Support energy efficiency, ADA accessibility, and cross‑functional collaboration.
