Scheck Hillel Community School, a large Orthodox Jewish community school located in sunny North Miami Beach, Florida, is currently accepting resumes for an experienced full-time Facilities Manager.

Scheck Hillel is a nationally recognized college preparatory and Jewish community school serving over 1,300 students from PKT through 12th grade. As a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, we attract a diverse faculty committed to delivering high-quality education and focusing on the whole child.

Job Summary:

The Facilities Manager oversees and coordinates the facilities team in maintaining the entire physical plant and grounds. Responsibilities include evaluating systems, determining necessary repairs or installations, performing hands-on maintenance, and working within a Facilities Management software system shared by the Operations leadership team.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise team, vendors, organize schedules, and assign tasks
  • Conduct training to ensure team competency
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures; maintain personnel records
  • Evaluate staff performance regularly
  • Investigate accidents and prepare reports
  • Respond to emergencies
  • Plan projects, develop bid specifications, oversee bid processes and construction projects
  • Create and maintain 1, 3, and 5-year facility improvement plans with the COO and CFO
  • Research products and provide quality assurance guidance
  • Oversee assembly and arrangement of furnishings and equipment for events and activities
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance, minor repairs on HVAC, wiring, plumbing, machinery, and equipment
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and operational facility
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities
  • Use various tools and equipment for repairs
  • Inspect facilities for repairs and compliance with inspections
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe condition
  • Prepare and paint surfaces as needed
  • Repair fixed assets and components
  • Transport materials and supplies as required
  • Ensure OSHA and fire code compliance
  • Conduct routine patrols of the premises
  • Support security and technology repairs and alterations
  • Provide training to staff
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations and COO on maintenance and capital expenditures
  • Coordinate with Operations on cafeteria, food service, carpool, and logistics activities
  • Assist other personnel as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Background in construction, engineering, project management, or facilities management
  • Leadership skills
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Spanish language skills a plus
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
