Facilities Mechanical Technician II

2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday

Position Summary:

The Facilities Mechanical Technician II is responsible for general building and equipment maintenance in a modern industrial manufacturing and office environment. This hands-on role requires 2-5 years of experience and the ability to work independently. The technician will operate under the Facilities Supervisor and collaborate with other trades and facilities personnel to support manufacturing, production, and internal staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct inspections of the facility, grounds, and mechanical spaces.
  2. Assist in repairing manufacturing equipment, perform inspections, and ensure quality of repairs.
  3. Interpret schematic diagrams for repairs and troubleshooting.
  4. Assess welding needs and perform welding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  5. Perform various maintenance tasks such as drywall repair, painting, carpentry, assembly/disassembly of cubicles, inventory management, sidewalk deicing, and managing building automation systems.
  6. Prioritize and handle work orders, including urgent requests.
  7. Perform preventive maintenance and report findings for repairs.
  8. Coordinate with external contractors for specialized work.
  9. This role involves travel between SIG locations as per schedule.
  10. Report safety concerns and promote safe work practices.
  11. Assist colleagues proactively and maintain professionalism.
  12. Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  13. Maintain 5S standards and follow safety and ISO procedures.
  14. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  15. Perform additional duties as needed, including working overtime or in different facilities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.
  • Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers.
  • Ability to read drawings/blueprints and use computer software such as Microsoft Office, BMS, and CMMS.
  • Ability to operate industrial equipment like forklifts, aerial lifts, and light vehicles.
  • Intermediate welding skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to complete tasks on time and sometimes ahead of schedule.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily standing, with frequent lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Work involves exposure to manufacturing environments, repetitive tasks, and physical activity including bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Shift options include 8, 10, or 12 hours.
  • Use of PPE required; adherence to safety and EH&S protocols essential.
