Skyland Trail, a nonprofit mental health residential treatment program for adults and adolescents in Atlanta, is seeking a Maintenance Technician.

Position Overview

Maintenance Technician II, Facilities Department

Use your maintenance and facilities skills to make a difference and be a part of a caring community. This position is ideal for a mid-level professional with specialized expertise in facilities maintenance who enjoys applying their skills in a team-based, mission-focused environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Maintenance Technician II is part of the facilities department and reports to the Maintenance Manager. The goal of the maintenance team is to ensure safe and welcoming campuses for Skyland Trail staff, clients, and visitors. The Maintenance Tech II assists with the maintenance of buildings, grounds, building-related systems, and environmental services by applying hands-on skills or collaborating with specialized contractors.

Examples include preventive maintenance, plumbing, minor equipment repairs, room temperature adjustments, minor structural repairs, filter and light bulb changes, receptacle and circuit breaker repairs, and ceiling tile replacements. The Tech is on call every other week evenings for urgent maintenance outside of business hours.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least two years in a facilities maintenance role
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Dependable transportation for travel between campuses, with personal auto insurance limits of $100,000/$300,000
• Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, bend, stoop, twist, crawl into small spaces, climb ladders, access roof hatches, and work at heights of 10 feet or more; manual dexterity, visual acuity, hand-eye coordination

Required Skills

• Knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, electrical wiring, electronics, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hand and power tools safety
• Excellent customer service, organization, and time management skills
