Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker in the Bronx, NY. The role focuses on building upkeep, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs to keep resident and staff areas safe and functional.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work, and CMMS; strong safety awareness and ability to work with residents and contractors are essential for success.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year in facilities/building maintenance or related field.
Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and general repairs.
Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and work orders.
Ability to troubleshoot issues and perform repairs independently.
Comfort with hand and power tools; able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Complete preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.
Inspect HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors, windows, and infrastructure.
Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with leadership or vendors when needed.
Maintain tools and work areas in a safe, organized condition.
Assist with moves, furniture setup, deliveries, and space changes.
Monitor spaces to keep them safe, clean and functional.
Follow OSHA, codes, policies, and safety procedures.
