Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to upkeep the interior and exterior of our facility in New York. The role involves carpentry, painting, plumbing and basic electrical repairs, plus preventive maintenance of HVAC and domestic water systems.

You will receive deliveries, move furniture, and assist with emergencies on call, including odd hours. English proficiency is required; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred for our diverse community.

Qualifications

• Three years experience in building maintenance; experience in the trades is helpful.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English; bilingual-English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of facility.
• Make repairs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and some electrical.
• Responsible for preventative maintenance of heating/cooling and domestic water systems.
• Receive and store deliveries of maintenance/office supplies.
• Lifting of boxes and moving furniture as needed.
• On call for emergencies, which may require early and/or late hours.
• Be a member of the fire safety team; participate in fire drills.
