Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Worker to uphold cleanliness and perform essential repairs across a 37.5-hour work week in New York. The role requires multi-trade capabilities and attention to safety protocols, including fire safety responsibilities.

The position supports preventive maintenance of HVAC and hot water systems, oversees contractors, handles deliveries, and participates in drills and safety teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Five years experience in building maintenance; experience in trades is helpful.
• Ability to use independent discretion and judgement.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of facility.
• Make repairs requiring skills such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical.
• Responsible for preventative maintenance of cooling/heating and domestic hot water systems.
• Ensure that the periodic maintenance and inspection of elevators, sprinkler systems, fire alarm system and fire extinguishers is performed and documented.
• Arrange for and oversee outside contractors as directed.
• Receive and store deliveries of maintenance/office supplies.
• Move furniture as needed.
• Be a member of the fire safety team.
• Participate in fire drills.
• Related duties as assigned.
