Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee (BRC) is seeking a full-time Maintenance Supervisor for the Metropolitan Apartment Program (MAP) in New York City. The role involves overseeing upkeep, safety compliance, and coordinating contractors across Manhattan and the Bronx.

The position requires hands-on maintenance skills, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license. Occasional travel to Brooklyn and Queens may be required as part of apartment support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years maintenance experience.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Light plumbing, electrical and general repair skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Vaccination preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform maintenance at MAP and report findings.
  • Ensure compliance with city, state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in offices and apartments.
  • Arrange and oversee regular exterminator services.
  • Paint, light plumbing, electrical and general repairs as required.
  • Arrange for and oversee outside contractors as directed.
  • Maintain contact with building managers of apartments.
  • Inventory, purchase and distribute maintenance supplies.
  • Coordinate pick up and delivery of purchases.
  • Maintain program vehicle.
  • Assist with Bronx and Manhattan apartments as needed.
  • On call for emergencies.
  • Related duties as assigned.
