Job summary

The City of Mebane is seeking a maintenance worker to coordinate contracted custodial services for City buildings and inspect facilities for preventive or unscheduled maintenance. You will stock supplies, perform skilled manual labor, and assist with grounds maintenance while working under supervision.

Responsibilities include reading and following directions, maintaining maintenance logs, and communicating with staff and the public.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED with building maintenance experience or equivalent.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions and perform manual labor tasks.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
• Capable of operating safely around equipment and in various trades.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency service requests.
• Develop and adhere to maintenance schedules.
• Maintain and repair facilities to reduce expenses through preventative work.
• Manage work orders and maintenance logs.
• Communicate clearly with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
• Spread ice-melting materials and shovel snow from walkways; participate in plowing.
• Assist with garbage, yard waste, and brush collection when needed.
• Perform other general maintenance duties as assigned.
