Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to support Facilities Engineering. The role involves maintenance, repair and alteration of equipment, systems, and facilities, with duties across boiler operation and HVAC as needed.

You’ll work under supervision and coordinate with Engineering Management/Leadership. Minimum 3 years in general maintenance, ability to read blueprints, and strong problem-solving skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum 3 years of general maintenance and repair experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; able to prioritize and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Follow manufacturer repair manuals and repair equipment with hand/power tools.
• Repair broken furniture and non-clinical equipment (beds, wheelchairs, IV poles, etc.).
• Coordinate with outside contractors and facility staff for repairs.
• Respond to service calls and complete paperwork on job completion.
• Maintain safe work environment and ensure compliance with PM programs.
• Perform minor electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry repairs.
