Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician at The dReam Center Church of Atlanta (TdRC) serves the church by coordinating building schedules and ensuring maintenance issues and grounds upkeep are addressed. This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Maintain the church's appearance, cleanliness, and overall condition.
- Open and close the facility for worship, rehearsals, meetings, and office hours following established procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance such as repairs or reporting structural damages (windows, doors, walls), painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, groundskeeping, lighting, and carpet repairs.
- Refill dispensers (hand sanitizer, soap, paper towels, toilet tissue), vacuum the sanctuary between services, and empty trash as needed.
- Manage work orders for repairs, inspections, installations, and supply orders.
- Under supervision, perform skilled and semi-skilled trades work related to building maintenance and repair.
- Troubleshoot and maintain security, climate control, and other systems.
- Supervise and guide volunteers' work assignments.
- Monitor or escort contractors and maintenance personnel to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Review plans and conduct on-site inspections to ensure quality and compliance.
- Organize and monitor projects, purchases, preventative maintenance, and work orders.
- Maintain efficient inventory and storage areas for parts and supplies.
- Address facility breakdowns outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Pre-Service and Post-Service Duties
- Follow building opening and closing protocols.
- Conduct inspections using the Facilities Checklist.
- Troubleshoot HVAC issues.
- Manage trash pickup inside and outside the building.
During Service
- Respond to safety-related maintenance requests.
- Manage plumbing emergencies such as leaks, pipe bursts, and floods.
- Address electrical issues like shorts or power outages.
Other Responsibilities
- Coordinate deliveries with vendors.
- Handle facility-related pickups, staging, and setup/breakdown for events.
- Ensure rooms are properly equipped and stocked.
- Perform emergency cleaning as needed.
- Assist in training facilities volunteers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- At least 2 years of maintenance experience (Required)
- Valid Driver's License (Required)
- Technical certifications are a plus.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and task management software (e.g., Asana).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to collaborate across teams to support ministry activities.
- Good work habits and time management skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
