Job summary

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles is seeking a dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and minor renovations across its offices, ReStores, and warehouses. The role requires a hands-on approach, the ability to troubleshoot common issues, and travel between locations.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years in facilities maintenance, a valid CA driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 75 lb and work flexible hours including

Qualifications

  • Must pass a drug test and background check.
  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • 2+ years in facilities/building maintenance or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, carpentry, doors and locks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify when vendor support is needed.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, ladders safely.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs across multiple Habitat LA locations (offices, ReStores, warehouses).
  • Respond to maintenance requests, evaluate needs, prioritize work orders, and complete assignments promptly.
  • Troubleshoot facility and equipment issues; coordinate with vendors or contractors for specialized repairs.
  • Support facility improvement projects including installations, furniture assembly, workspace modifications, and minor renovations.
  • Travel between Habitat LA locations and provide timely updates on maintenance progress.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is seeking a dependable and skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and facility improvements across multiple Habitat LA locations. This position helps ensure that offices, ReStores, warehouses, and other facilities remain safe, functional, clean, and well maintained.

The ideal candidate is hands on, responsive, and able to troubleshoot common facility issues while managing multiple work requests. This role requires regular travel between Habitat LA locations and collaboration with employees, vendors, and contractors.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, drywall, painting, doors, locks, fixtures, and other building components
  • Respond to maintenance requests, evaluate repair needs, prioritize work orders, and complete assignments in a timely manner..
  • Troubleshoot facility and equipment issues and coordinate specialized repairs with approved vendors or contractors when necessary.
  • Support facility improvement projects, including installations, furniture assembly, workspace modifications, and minor renovations.
  • Travel to various Habitat LA locations as needed and provide timely updates regarding maintenance requests, repair progress, and completed work.
SUMMARY OF JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test, 75 lb. physical lift test, background check, authorization, and a driving record check.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to perform job duties, a valid CA Driver’s License, and meet the state-required amount of personal automobile liability insurance.
  • At least two years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, carpentry, doors, locks, and general repair practices.
  • Ability to identify maintenance issues, troubleshoot problems, and determine when specialized vendor support is needed.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment safely.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and complete work orders across multiple locations.
  • Willingness to respond to urgent facility needs and work occasional evenings or weekends, as necessary.
WORK CONDITIONS:
  • Frequently it is required to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. alone, team lift 100 lbs.
  • Frequent movement around the office/warehouse/ReStore may be necessary.
  • Regular work with computers, including keyboards, mouses, and screens.
  • Working conditions consist of high temperature-controlled workspaces.
  • Noise levels are moderate to loud depending on the work area.

COMPENSATION

Pay Range: $26.44 - $31.25.
Salary offers are based on several factors, including job-related knowledge, experience, and qualifications. They range from entry to mid-level. .
