Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. seeks a Facilities Maintenance Worker to provide hands‑on building maintenance, preventive programs, and repairs across residential and office spaces.

You will work to keep HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and common areas safe and functional while supporting moves, projects, and site upkeep. The ideal candidate has basic carpentry, painting, and trades experience, and can operate calmly in residential settings, coordinating with staff, clients, and vendors.

Qualifications

• One year or more of experience in facilities maintenance or related trade.
• Experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and general repairs.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, work orders, and building maintenance procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot facility issues and complete repairs independently.
• Familiarity with hand and power tools and maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair work orders.
• Inspect HVAC equipment, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors, windows, and building infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot issues and perform repairs to minimize disruptions; escalate when needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, organized condition.
• Support room turnovers and facility improvement projects.
• Assist with furniture moves, equipment setup, and space reconfigurations.
• Monitor spaces to ensure safety and cleanliness; follow OSHA and codes.
