Job summary

Urban Pathways, a NYC-based nonprofit, is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform general upkeep and cleaning of the facility in line with regulatory requirements. You will report to the Director of Operations or Operations Supervisor to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for residents and staff.

This role demands initiative, tool proficiency, and a flexible schedule (weekends included). You will assist with safety inspections, basic repairs, and light front-desk duties while upholding Urban

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in building maintenance and janitorial duties or equivalent of experience.
• Experience with homeless, individuals with mental health conditions and substance abuse population preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keeps the facility clean of debris and garbage.
• Disposes and recycles garbage in accordance with regulations.
• Sorts and eliminates co-mingling of recyclable products and hazardous materials.
• Performs building cleaning operations as scheduled.
• Cleans building area.
• Sanitizes building area.
• Strips and waxes floor areas.
• Performs window and glass washing.
• Performs high dusting and vacuuming.
• Performs basic groundskeeping.
• Performs snow removal and other building emergency maintenance tasks.
• Maintains safe and non-slippery walkways including salt and deicer as needed.
• Performs maintenance duties including painting and protection from drips.
• Observes safety protocols and conducts repairs as needed.
• Monitors the facility and reports issues to supervisor.
• Provides limited front desk coverage and answers phones.
• Screens visitors and monitors CCTV / fire alarm panel.
