Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Summerville, SC seeks a Maintenance Assistant to perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks across buildings, grounds, and equipment as directed by the Maintenance Director.

Responsibilities include operating tools, making repairs, maintaining logs, performing preventive tasks, painting, basic electrical work, and assisting with resident safety drills, while ensuring safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of building maintenance practices.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate tools and machines commonly used in the maintenance/building trade.
• Order materials as directed and handle calls.
• Make repairs to building, equipment, and appliances as directed.
• Disassemble and move furniture throughout the community.
• Check maintenance logs and respond to requests promptly.
• Perform preventative maintenance as directed.
• Prepare and paint surfaces in the community.
• Maintain exterior grounds and assist with landscaping/trash removal.
• Perform basic electrical work, including changing light bulbs.
• Transport residents safely in community vehicle.
• Assist with vehicle maintenance schedule.
• Assist with resident safety drills.
• All other duties as assigned
