Job summary

University of Utah is seeking a Maintenance Mechanics (Assistant Maintenance Manager) to respond to trouble calls, assess problems, and oversee repairs across building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry. This role requires 3+ years of related experience, strong communication, and the ability to supervise contractors as needed.

Typical hours are 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday with potential weekends as needed, in campus facilities in Salt Lake City.

Qualifications

• Requires 3+ years of related experience.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and repairs in building facilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the Union Building daily for issues (lights, leaks, floors, ceilings, drains, smells, sounds, furniture).
• Oversees preventative maintenance (filters, air handlers, belts, motors, pumps, drains).
• Performs repairs and maintenance on plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and hardware systems.
• Assists with work orders from residents and coordinates timely completion.
• Supports daily setups/tears downs and coordination of work.
• Assists Maintenance Manager in budgeting and goal setting.
