Job summary

North Carolina Department of Administration seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician II (S) in Raleigh to support the Facility Management division. The role focuses on routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance for state facilities and requires journey-level carpentry skills and familiarity with building codes.

The position involves reading architectural plans, using framing and finishing tools, and assisting with hazardous materials handling when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one year of progressive experience in the trade areas, or an equivalent combination.
• Must be familiar with building life and safety codes.
• Ability to read and visualize architectural plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Experience with frame and finish carpentry, cabinetmaking tools, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level building maintenance and carpentry tasks according to sketches and specs.
• Direct involvement in Governor's Events and facility operations.
• Operate equipment such as Tow Motor, Genie Lifts, and Lull Lift.
• Provide a wide range of building trade services as needed by Facility Management.
