Job summary

Chatham County, NC is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep county facilities safe, functional, and well-maintained through hands-on repairs, preventative maintenance, and timely record-keeping.

You will troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, perform painting, equipment servicing, and assist with space renovations as needed. A high school diploma or GED and basic tool skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Moderate experience in general building maintenance.
• General knowledge of maintenance methods, materials, and safety.
• Ability to recognize and diagnose problems.
• Ability to follow instructions and establish working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, modify, and install building structures and systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and service on equipment.
• Inspect fire safety devices and troubleshoot problems.
• Prepare surfaces for painting and perform interior/exterior painting.
• Assist in renovations and move office furniture as needed.
• Prepare maintenance records and reports.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with contractors.
