Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform semi-skilled tasks related to building and grounds maintenance, repair of equipment and appliances, and support for the Maintenance Director. The role involves operating tools, performing repairs, and assisting with safety drills in a senior living community.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years prior experience in a maintenance role.
• Knowledge of practices and materials used in building maintenance.
• Must be detail oriented and organized to ensure task completion.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work with others as part of a team.
• Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, grasp, push and pull for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and carry heavy objects for up to 50 feet.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate tools and machines commonly used in the maintenance/building trade.
• Order materials as directed and manage phone calls.
• Make repairs to building, equipment, and appliances as directed.
• Disassemble and move furniture throughout the community.
• Check maintenance logs and work orders for prompt response.
• Perform preventive maintenance as directed.
• Prepare and paint surfaces in the community.
• Maintain exterior grounds including landscaping and trash removal.
• Perform basic electrical work, like changing light bulbs.
• Transport residents safely in community vehicle to appointments.
• Assist with community vehicle maintenance schedule as directed.
• Assist with resident safety drills.
• All other duties as assigned.
