Job summary

Topeka Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Grounds/Facilities Technician to maintain the district’s facilities and grounds, ensuring operations run smoothly for the education program. The role requires handling mowing, snow removal, painting, fencing, and equipment maintenance at the Sports Park.

The incumbent must have a high school diploma and a valid Kansas driver’s license, with the ability to lift 100 pounds, work in varied weather, and follow instructions with little supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience & training in grounds maintenance, mowing, snow removal, repairing, painting and fencing/netting-sports park maintenance.
• Ability to work from verbal and written instructions and design/modify components to meet job requirements.
• Knowledge of standard practices, tools and terminology for grounds care.
• Knowledge of hazards, safety precautions, hazardous materials, and proper procedures.
• Ability to drive and operate medium truck and turf equipment.
• Valid Kansas driver’s license with good driving record.
• Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
• Must be physically able to lift 100 pounds.
• Ability to work in varied weather and at heights.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance work to keep Sports Park buildings, grounds, and equipment in timely condition.
• Will be assigned to district high school for 8 weeks over winter months.
• Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend events at the Sports Park.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
