Job summary

The City of Leavenworth, Kansas is seeking a Park Technician I to maintain parks, facilities, and grounds. You will mow, plant, install irrigation, repair fixtures, supervise volunteers, and assist in snow removal and pool maintenance as needed.

A valid driver’s license and high school diploma are required; CDL may be needed within a year. Several months of related work experience are preferred. This is a year-round, non-exempt, on-site position in the Parks and Recreation Department.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old at time of hire.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license at time of application and maintain; CDL or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Mows and maintains park and open space areas; irrigations systems and related repairs.
  • Plants trees, turf, shrubs, and flowers; perform tree/shrub maintenance.
  • Seeding, fertilizing, watering, and pest/weed control for parks and open spaces.
  • Assists in setting up equipment for park programs and prepares facilities for use.
  • Supervises community service workers, inmates, and volunteers as required.
  • Maintains municipal pools and monitors pool filtration systems.
  • Cleans and maintains park facilities, benches, tables, restrooms, and fixtures.
  • Operates park maintenance equipment and assists in construction/repairs of park facilities.
