Job summary

The Woodlands Resort, Curio Collection by HEI Hotels & Resorts seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to manage building systems and the building envelope, ensuring safety for guests, associates, and vendors, and maintaining energy efficiency.

You will lead maintenance scheduling, oversee preventive maintenance, test life safety systems, monitor utilities, manage purchasing and budgeting, and ensure compliance with codes in a hotel environment. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 1 year of hands-on experience in hotel or similar property.
• Experience across HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing and landscaping.
• Ability to lead and develop staff, set priorities, plan, organize and delegate.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of hotel operations, security and safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire, train, evaluate, resolve problems, communicate openly.
• Schedule and manage preventive maintenance per standards and codes.
• Prioritize service requests to ensure safety and convenience.
• Test life safety systems to ensure 100% operation.
• Monitor utility consumption for energy efficiency.
• Review purchase requests and monitor budget.
• Maintain schedules, logs and documentation for smooth operation.
• Adhere to attendance rules and be available regularly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
