Job summary

UG2 in Boston seeks a Chief Engineer to lead our engineering team, ensure 100% uptime, and protect asset value across building systems. You will implement reliability-based maintenance, oversee safety, compliance, and QA, and mentor staff while coordinating with contractors and clients.

The role requires a technical HVAC background, licenses, and strong leadership to drive continuous improvement and efficient operations. This is a full-time on-site position in Boston.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional education.
• One-year certificate from college or technical school, or equivalent 5–7 years related experience.
• Universal CFC
• Technical degree in HVAC or 5+ years related experience.
• Active Refrigeration Technician's license.
• Wastewater license or plan to obtain within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Monitor operation and maintain HVAC and related mechanical/electrical equipment; review logs and report problems.
• Ensure adequate inventory of tools and supplies; manage purchases and stock levels.
• Oversee contractors within the building; coordinate work with tenants.
• Identify safety hazards and implement safety training program.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain infrastructure documentation.
• Supervise building engineers and maintenance staff; hire and develop personnel.
• Develop QA/QC processes and facilitate infrastructure assessments.
• Support preventative maintenance emphasis and after-hours emergencies as needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent

One-year certificate from college or technical school

Technical degree in HVAC

Active Refrigeration Technician's license

Wastewater license
