Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. seeks an experienced Building Engineer in San Jose, CA to maintain and repair critical building systems, ensuring safe, efficient operations for a large client.

The role covers mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems, with a focus on preventive maintenance, code compliance, and energy efficiency across facility operations. Applicants must have a High School Diploma with 4-5 years of experience; Universal CFC certification is preferred; ability to lift 50 lbs;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience.
• Universal CFC certification is preferred. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
• Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire/life safety, and control systems, keeping facilities up to standards.
• Comply with applicable codes, regulations, and company directives related to building operations and safety.
• Maintain an energy management program to ensure efficient operation of all systems.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs and perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow policies for storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean, safe workplace.
• Review building system inspections (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure design compliance and environmental targets.
• Apply in-depth knowledge to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
• Coach others and share knowledge across disciplines within the function.
• Lead by example and align with CBRE RISE values to reach consensus.
• Impact a range of customer, operational, and service activities within teams.
• Work within broad guidelines and explain complex information clearly.
