Volunteers of America Greater New York, Inc. seeks a Manager of Building Maintenance to lead a maintenance team across multiple properties in a hybrid work model.

The role focuses on delivering exceptional operational performance, maintaining facilities to meet tenant needs and VOA-GNY standards, and supporting the agency's mission. The person will hire, train, and supervise staff, manage budgets, oversee preventive maintenance and compliance with housing laws, and coordinate repairs and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of supervision and 2 years of multi-site operations or 7 years of supervision and 3 years of multi-site operations experience in a supportive housing environment.
• Strong knowledge of property management including physical plant and systems, budgeting, computer systems/software, regulatory and funder compliance, purchasing, and inventory knowledge.
• Strong organizational, time management, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Hire, onboard, train and supervise a team of maintenance personnel within the portfolio and collaborate with Program Services.
• Articulate expectations and hold team members accountable for budget adherence, regulatory compliance, and staffing quality.
• Manage vacancies, work orders, inspections, violations, inventory, and vendor contracts at each property in the portfolio.
• Implement and manage preventive maintenance plans.
• Ensure property management plans address internal and funder requirements.
• Maintain facilities and building systems in working condition within budget and housing codes.
• Coordinate repairs with the maintenance team; conduct site visits and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with fair housing and local landlord-tenant laws.
