Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Union Building Engineer in Detroit to monitor and maintain building systems including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to repairs, and ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 3–4 years of related experience.
• Universal CFC certification preferred; other certifications/licenses per local/state requirements.
• Ability to analyze problems using technical experience and apply judgment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, and control systems.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and safety directives.
• Maintain an energy management program for efficient operation.
• Assist with preventive maintenance to meet equipment lifespans; perform emergency repairs.
• Follow policies for safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials; keep workspace safe.
• Review building system inspections (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure operation and environmental conditions.
