We’re hiring a Facilities Assistant in the Washington, DC area!

The Part-Time Facilities Assistant plays a key support role on the Facilities team, assisting with the general upkeep, maintenance, and appearance of all Call Your Mother shops, offices, and commissaries in the DMV region. This hands-on role will help ensure our spaces are functioning smoothly, beautifully maintained, and safe for guests and team members alike. Working under the direction of the Facilities Technician and Maintenance Supervisor, this role will contribute to the execution of daily repairs, preventative maintenance, and light building projects.

A day in the life of a Facilities Assistant at CYM:

• Support completion of daily repair & maintenance (R&M) requests across CYM locations
• Assist with light plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, painting, carpentry, and millwork as directed
• Help with small-scale buildouts and upgrades to enhance facility function and storefront appearance
• Transport and organize tools, materials, and supplies for site work and repairs
• Update task lists and communicate progress on open work orders through internal tools (e.g. Nodifi)
• Support monthly and quarterly preventative maintenance routines (e.g. for small appliances and equipment)
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace and ensure all work meets quality standards
• Assist in preparing CYM locations for external service vendors and site visits when needed
• Provide timely feedback and updates to the Facilities Technician and Maintenance Supervisor and Operations Leadership
  
  

You’ll be a great addition to the CYM team if you:

• 3–5 years of experience in facilities, building maintenance, or general repairs
• General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and basic tool use
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license required
• Own basic set of tools
• Strong communication skills, responsiveness, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions efficiently
• Willingness to be flexible with weekly hours and shift priorities based on shop needsMay stand for long periods of time
• May lift up to 50 pounds
• May work on ladders
• Must be able to bend and reach overhead often
• Must possess dexterity to handle tools and equipment
• Must be comfortable working in temperatures ranging from hot to cold
• May be required to work in tight spaces
• Must maintain near constant communication with multiple people
• Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision is required
• Must be able to sit, squat and kneel occasionally
• Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
• May be required to occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions
