MillerWorks is looking to fill a Facilities & Operations Support position in Tallahassee, FL. Position Summary
The Facilities & Operations Support position provides hands‑on support for company facilities, properties, warehouse operations, deliveries, equipment upkeep, and occasional field activities. This role performs a variety of maintenance, repair, landscaping, cleaning, material‑handling, and general support tasks while representing MillerWorks professionally and demonstrating the Company’s Core Values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote and demonstrate MillerWorks’ Core Values of Dependability, Integrity, Hard Work, and Positive Attitude.
- Perform general handyman, repair, and maintenance work, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor facility repairs.
- Maintain company offices, warehouse areas, employee housing, rental properties, and other company‑owned or managed properties.
- Perform landscaping and groundskeeping duties, including mowing, trimming, cleanup, and general property upkeep.
- Clean, organize, inspect, and assist with the preventative maintenance of tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Load, unload, transport, and deliver tools, materials, parts, equipment, and supplies to jobsites and company locations.
- Assist warehouse personnel with material handling, organization, deliveries, and other operational needs.
- Provide occasional support to field crews on commercial construction projects, including light demolition, cleanup, material movement, and general labor assistance.
- Perform pressure washing and cleaning of buildings, equipment, vehicles, and exterior areas.
- Conduct routine property and equipment inspections and report maintenance, repair, safety, or security concerns.
- Run company errands and assist with setup, breakdown, and cleanup for meetings, events, and special projects.
- Occasionally assist with maintenance and project work at residences owned by company leadership.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic maintenance, repair, carpentry, plumbing, painting, landscaping, and property‑upkeep practices.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and cleaning equipment.
- Ability to identify routine maintenance, repair, safety, and property concerns and communicate them promptly.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in an orderly condition.
- Ability to follow instructions, manage changing priorities, and complete varied assignments with limited supervision.
- Basic problem‑solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment when addressing routine maintenance and operational needs.
- Ability to work cooperatively with warehouse personnel, field crews, vendors, company leadership, and other team members.
- Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and deliver tools and supplies.
- Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate professionalism when working at company properties, jobsites, and private residences.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in general maintenance, handyman work, facilities support, construction, warehouse operations, landscaping, property maintenance, or a related field.
- Basic experience using hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and cleaning equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and complete varied assignments safely and efficiently.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive hands‑on experience safely operating, transporting, and performing routine care of trailers, lawn and landscaping equipment, pressure washers, and material‑handling equipment.
- Familiarity with commercial construction jobsites and applicable safety practices.
- OSHA 10‑hour Construction certification, forklift certification, or similar safety training.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to regularly use hands and arms to operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, cleaning equipment, and material‑handling equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials, tools, equipment, and other items weighing up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to load, unload, secure, and transport materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at varying heights as required.
- Ability to walk and work on uneven ground, construction sites, landscaped areas, and other indoor and outdoor surfaces.
- Ability to safely enter, exit, and operate company vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods and in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to see, hear, and communicate sufficiently to perform work safely and respond to instructions, warnings, and surrounding activity.
Work for this position is performed primarily at company facilities, warehouses, construction jobsites, residential and rental properties, and other assigned locations. The employee may work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and may be exposed to heat, cold, rain, dust, dirt, noise, moving vehicles and equipment, uneven surfaces, chemicals, and other conditions commonly associated with maintenance, landscaping, warehouse, and construction activities. The position requires regular travel between work locations and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
