Job summary

Job description

MillerWorks is looking to fill a Plumber position in Tallahassee, FL. MillerWorks is a commercial plumbing and mechanical contractor built on quality, innovation, and dependable workmanship. Position Summary:

The Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial plumbing systems in accordance with project specifications, plumbing codes, and company standards. This position performs skilled plumbing work involving sanitary waste, vent, storm, domestic water, and fixture systems while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality project completion. The Plumber works collaboratively with supervisors, foremen, apprentices, helpers, and other trades to support project schedules, maintain jobsite safety, and ensure accurate system installation and operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install commercial plumbing systems, including sanitary waste, vent, storm, domestic water, and fixture systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and plumbing layouts to support accurate installation.
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, assemble, and install pipe, fittings, valves, fixtures, and related plumbing components using hand and power tools.
  • Install underground plumbing systems, including sanitary, storm, and domestic water piping.
  • Assist with system testing, inspections, startup activities, and troubleshooting of plumbing systems and components.
  • Locate and mark pipe routes, penetrations, and fixture locations according to project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate work activities with supervisors, foremen, apprentices, helpers, and other trades to support project progress.
  • Maintain compliance with plumbing codes, company standards, and jobsite safety requirements.
  • Assist with material handling, jobsite organization, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Document work activities, material usage, and project information as required.
  • Mentor and assist apprentices and helpers in proper installation methods and safe work practices.
  • Perform repair, maintenance, and replacement of plumbing systems and components as assigned.
  • Operate construction tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, installation methods, and plumbing materials.
  • Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, safety standards, and jobsite practices.
  • Skill in measuring, cutting, threading, assembling, and installing pipe and plumbing components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine plumbing installation and system issues.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment commonly used in plumbing work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and plumbing layouts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, foremen, coworkers, and other trades.
  • Ability to organize work tasks and maintain productivity in a fast-paced construction environment.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in plumbing or related construction operations.
  • A combination of relevant education, training, and practical field experience may be considered in lieu of specific requirements.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance and up to twenty-five (25) pounds overhead.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and on ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, noise, and dust, while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to use hands and tools to grasp, manipulate, and assemble materials and equipment.
  • Ability to operate standard construction tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to maintain balance and coordination while performing job tasks in active construction environments.
  • Ability to see and hear sufficiently to recognize hazards and perform job duties safely.
  • Sufficient visual and auditory ability to observe work conditions, communicate effectively, and identify potential safety or operational issues.
