Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and work with field crews on commercial plumbing installations.
• Coordinate plumbing systems including sanitary waste, vent, storm, domestic water, and fixtures.

• Inspect work for code compliance and safety standards.
• Read blueprints, specifications, and plumbing layouts for accurate installation.
• Oversee material deliveries, staging, and layout to support workflow.
• Troubleshoot installation issues and field conflicts.
• Lead crews in measuring, cutting, threading, and installing piping and fixtures.
• Coordinate underground plumbing installations (storm, sanitary, domestic water).
• Assist with testing, inspections, and startup activities; fix leaks.
• Maintain accurate labor and material records; prepare reports.

Position Summary:

The Plumbing Foreman is a working field leader responsible for coordinating and directing the daily activities of assigned plumbing crews. This position performs hands‑on work while guiding plumbers, apprentices and helpers to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and company standards. The Plumbing Foreman works under the direction of the Job Superintendent to execute established work plans, support productivity goals, and maintain quality and safety on the jobsite.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and work alongside assigned field crews in the installation of commercial plumbing systems.
• Coordinate plumbing installations, including sanitary waste, vent, storm, domestic water, and fixture systems.
• Assign and coordinate daily work activities based on direction from the Job Superintendent and project requirements.
• Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and plumbing layouts to support accurate field installation.
• Assist in coordinating material deliveries, staging, and layout to support workflow.
• Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues, field conflicts, and routine plumbing system problems.
• Lead and assist crews in measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, assembling, and installing pipe, fittings, valves, and plumbing fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Coordinate and oversee underground utility piping installations, including storm, sanitary, and domestic water systems.
• Assist with system testing, inspections, and startup activities, including identifying and correcting leaks or deficiencies.
• Keep accurate records of labor, materials, and project progress, and prepare reports as required.
• Train, mentor, and support field employees in proper installation methods, safety practices and company expectations.
• Support coordination with other trades to minimize conflicts and maintain project progress.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong working knowledge of plumbing, installation methods, and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and codes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate small to mid-sized field crews.
• Working knowledge of jobsite safety practices and requirements.
• Ability to organize daily work and adjust tasks based on field conditions.
• Effective communication skills with crew members, supervisors, and other trades.
• Ability to identify and resolve routine job site issues.
• Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems.

Required Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance and up to twenty‑five (25) pounds overhead.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and on ladders or scaffolding.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, noise, and dust, while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to use hands and tools to grasp, manipulate, and assemble materials and equipment.
• Ability to operate standard construction tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to maintain balance and coordination while performing job tasks in active construction environments.
• Ability to see and hear sufficiently to recognize hazards and perform job duties safely.
• Sufficient visual and auditory ability to observe work conditions, communicate effectively, and identify potential safety or operational issues.
