Job summary

Reliance, Inc. fabricates metal products and seeks a Machine Operator to produce a quality product safely and efficiently by setting up, maintaining, and operating machinery.

You will read blueprints and planning sheets to determine tooling, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods, and perform first-piece inspections while documenting production data. Training is provided; safety and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Experience operating production machinery is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and use measuring instruments; development of these skills provided through in-house training.

Responsibilities

• Prepares production equipment for operation by making equipment setup adjustments and/or working with a setup operator that assists in equipment changeovers.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
• Maintains quality standard specifications by conducting first-piece inspection, periodic inspection, and completing production control charts.
• Help train others for production job responsibilities by demonstrating operational procedures.
• Maintains machine operation by solving production process problems; making authorized equipment adjustments; and reporting production and quality data.
• Ensure operation of equipment by following preventative maintenance policies and procedures and timely reporting of needed changes and repairs.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed through team assistance and re-assignments.
• Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
• Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
• Meet established production standards for the department.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety standards and adheres to all safety policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Performing other duties or functions as requested by management.
