FAA Field Technician - Remote Support & Maintenance

Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in the United States seeks a Field Service Technician to deliver technical support for FAA programs, perform installation, repair, configuration, testing, and preventative maintenance at customer locations. Responsibilities include reading drawings, documenting activities, and coordinating with NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk.

You will travel within the assigned area, work remotely on a scheduled basis, and occasionally visit remote sites to support FAA customer needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience OR 2 years post-secondary degree with 2 years related experience.
• Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless, A+ certifications required.
• Capable of utilizing ladders and step stools to reach approx. 10 feet.
• Excellent customer service and ability to work in high-stress environments.
• Strong knowledge of cable connectors and replacement (RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449).
• Knowledge of fiber, multiplexes, network topology, Frame Relay, T-1, SONET, ATM, private line, and voice/data applications.
• Power testing, AC/DC including 3-phase power considerations.
• Experience with 24VDC & 48VDC power supplies configurations.
• Familiar with T1/DS3 testing specs, DS3 testing, digital and analog testing per Bell Core standards.
• Experience with network test equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for FAA programs and systems (FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS).
• Install, repair, configure, test and perform preventative maintenance at customer locations.
• Work remotely or on-call across assigned area and travel to remote sites as needed.
• Read and follow equipment drawings and task orders.
• Document activities and maintain admin records at customer sites.
• Coordinate with NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk to resolve field issues.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, parts, and vehicle inventory.
• Be proactive and prepared before dispatch.
• Obtain FAA security clearance and maintain valid driver’s license.
