Job summary

Biltmore Estate is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Staff II to perform repairs, upkeep and operations for Estate materials and equipment, across interior and exterior projects including plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical and HVAC work.

The role supports guest service excellence, reads blueprints, and participates in preventative maintenance. A high school diploma and 2+ years in commercial plant operations are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; additional training in carpentry, plumbing, electrical or related trades preferred.
• 2+ years experience in commercial plant operations or similar setting.
• Demonstrated commitment to world-class guest service.
• Ability to read construction drawings, blueprints and schematics; math skills required.

Job Description The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.85/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. The F&B Maintenance Staff II will be responsible for repairs, maintenance, upkeep and operations of materials, supplies and components across the Estate. Staff will work on interior and exterior projects that include plumbing, painting, carpentry, minor electrical and HVAC work; and will also assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned, such as preventative maintenance on buildings and kitchen equipment. Staff will work with a Maintenance team focused on the exceptional service of the Guests on Biltmore Estate, while also providing general assistance and support for the leadership, department, and company.

Requirements:

• 1. High school diploma required. Additional training/education and certification in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or other trade preferred.
• 2. Minimum two (2) years of experience in commercial plant operations and mechanics, preferably in an upscale hotel/resort/facility setting.
• 3. Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class internal/external guest service.
• 4. Experience with carpentry, plumbing and kitchen equipment (electrical, etc.); can read construction drawings, blueprints and schematics. Math skills a must.
• 5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to provide clear and concise directions and instructions, and interact professionally with staff and guests.
• 6. Strong planning/organizational skills; can prioritize work, multi-task, and adapt.
• 7. Handles a variety of internal and external guest issues in a professional manner.
• 8. Proactive and exercises good judgment; troubleshoots and problem solves.
• 9. Keen attention to detail with focus on quality and service.

Essential Job Duties:

• 1. Maintain an accurate knowledge of correct maintenance procedures and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• 2. Receive daily work assignments from supervisor and review priorities and special projects.
• 3. Maintain par stock levels of fixtures, tools and other standard supplies. Communicate requisition needs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• 4. Understand, operate and maintain the property's electrical systems and equipment, plumbing equipment, and a thorough knowledge of kitchen equipment.

Physical Requirements:

• 1. Exert physical effort in transporting 50-75 pounds frequently.
• 2. Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
• 3. Reach, push, pull, bend and lift.
• 4. Ability to remain in stationary or ambulatory positions throughout work shift.
• 5. This job involves working in all areas associated with Food & Beverage:
