Job summary

Big City Optical is seeking an Optician to join our Illinois team and support our mission of delivering excellent eye care to the community. You will be the main contact for new and existing patients, matching lenses and frames to prescriptions and lifestyle while ensuring a comfortable, precise fit.

Working with the optometrist, you will educate patients on lens options, monitor orders, and handle administrative tasks including insurance billing.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel up to 10 miles to support coverage at other locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that best suit their prescription needs and lifestyle.
• Accurately measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses for a comfortable vision experience.
• Educate patients on lens options and benefits to help informed decisions.
• Coordinate with the optometrist to understand and deliver on patient vision requirements.
• Monitor orders and update patients on delays; conduct follow-up calls for appointment availability.
