Job summary

Duke Health Integrated Practice is seeking an Optical Assistant to help patients select eyewear, process orders, and support adjustments and replacements. You will assist with measurements, ensure ANSI-compliant eyewear, and coordinate lab work for timely delivery.

The role requires the NC State Board of Opticians licensure, a high school diploma or GED, and about one year of related experience or training. Training is provided; the schedule is day shifts with no weekends.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience or training is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Licensure by North Carolina State Board of Opticians is required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients with professional attitude.
• Analyze and interpret prescriptions, including prism.
• Determine facial and eye measurements to be sent to lab.
• Assist patients in selecting appropriate frames and lenses by assessing needs.
• Inspect eyewear to meet ANSI standards.
• Deliver prescription eyewear and educate customers on use and care.
• Provide follow-up services including adjustments and repairs.
• Assist with inventory and other business duties at the location.
• Monitor expenses pertaining to the assigned location.
