Job summary

Duke Health Integrated Practice in Durham, NC, is seeking an optician to assist patients with selecting eyewear and vision aids. The role involves analyzing prescriptions, taking facial/eye measurements, and coordinating with labs to ensure accurate orders.

Responsibilities include patient greetings, eyewear delivery, and aftercare such as adjustments and repairs. Requires a high school diploma and NC licensure; schedule is Monday–Friday days, with no weekends.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent education/experience.
• High school diploma or GED required; licensure by NC State Board of Opticians is required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients with professional attitude.
• Analyze and interpret prescriptions, including prism.
• Determine facial and eye measurements to be sent to lab.
• Assist patients in selecting appropriate frames and lenses based on needs.
• Inspect eyewear to meet ANSI standards.
• Deliver eyewear and instruct on use and care.
• Provide follow-up services such as adjustments, repairs, replacements.
• Assist with inventory, lab orders, and assist in training new personnel.
