Job summary

joinaegvision in Sanford, ME seeks an optician to ensure accurate fitting and dispensing of eyewear and lenses. You will guide patients through product choices, perform measurements, interpret prescriptions and collaborate with lab staff.

Responsibilities include client development, order tracking, and maintaining product knowledge. Excellent customer service, communication, and physical stamina are required to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum 1 year experience as Optician preferred.
• HIPAA experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Sales experience preferred.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Dependability and punctuality.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand up to 8 hrs.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary experience to each patient with customized recommendations for products and services.
• Develops own clientele from outstanding service and referrals.
• Keeps current on products, procedures, rebates, lenses and frames.
• Takes and updates patient calls; informs on status and resolves issues.
• Retrieves patient charts and electronic health records.
• Assists patients in selecting frames, lens type, and lens treatments.
• Educates patients on eyeglass and contact lens care.
• Collects eye and facial measurements for proper fit.
• Interprets prescriptions from optometrist/ophthalmologist.
• Creates work orders for lab technicians.
• Follows up on pending orders and notifies patients of delays.
• Dispenses glasses, checks fit, and adjusts as needed.
• Uses tools for eyewear adjustments and repairs.
• Communicates with technicians and store managers about orders.
• Sells accessories and related products.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
