Job summary

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 2+ years' experience in optometry, ophthalmology or healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of optical and medical terminology.
• Understanding and utilization of optical equipment and diagnostic testing (pre-exam testing, pretesting, visual acuity, etc.).
• Coaching skills.
• Strong communicator and listening skills.
• Problem solving ability.
• Organization skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to assess priorities, address multiple tasks and deadlines in fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of office environment.

• Optometric technician certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.
• Performs various tests to aid the optometrist with vision examinations including visual acuity measurements, depth and color perception tests, and retinal imaging.
• Performs tests to aid the optometrist in accurate diagnosis and treatment for the patient in appropriate time frame.
• Identifies dissatisfied patients and acts quickly for resolution.
• Maintains patient records per HIPAA and practice standards.
• Supports contact lens exams and orders, including care, inventory and orders.
• Operates the appointment book and scheduling; uses computer systems.
• Performs pre-examination testing with accuracy and explains measurements to patients.
• Maintains and disinfects equipment; provides clinical support to the Optometrist as needed.
• Works weekends and evenings as needed; adheres to attendance requirements.
• Follows company policies and dress code; supports practice operations.
