Job summary

nowoptics is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) to provide comprehensive eye care, including full ocular assessments and integrative optometric services in Albuquerque, NM. The NP will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and maintain compliant clinical documentation.

The ideal candidate holds an NM NP license, DEA registration, and 2+ years in NP roles (ophthalmology or integrative medicine preferred). Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license issued by NM Board of Nursing.
• Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one in NM.
• MSN or DNP from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2 years NP experience; ophthalmology or integrative medicine preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Strong proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and clinical documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye exams including visual acuity testing, refraction, and anterior/posterior segment exams.
• Co-manage pre- and post-operative care for cataract surgery, LASIK, and other procedures.
• Order diagnostic imaging and ocular testing (OCT, visual fields, fundus photography).
• Refer patients to ophthalmologists or specialists when needed.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and participate in quality improvement.
