Job summary

SEES Management Solutions in Franklin, TN seeks a Surgery Counselor to manage all aspects of surgical scheduling for an ophthalmology practice, serving as the liaison between patients, surgeons, and facilities.

You will handle pre- and post-operative appointments, obtain insurance authorizations, educate patients, and ensure a smooth, HIPAA-compliant scheduling process with excellent service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate/bachelor preferred.
• Minimum of two years of surgical scheduling experience in healthcare, ophthalmology preferred.
• Strong knowledge of insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and billing for surgical services.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgeries with accurate procedure details and provider availability.
• Communicate dates, instructions, and pre-/post-operative care to patients.
• Obtain insurance authorizations and verify coverage for procedures.
• Ensure pre-operative requirements and medical clearances are completed.
• Serve as liaison between practice, facilities, and patients to ensure seamless coordination.
• Provide detailed financial information regarding costs, payment plans, and insurance coverage.
• Maintain organized scheduling to prevent conflicts and improve efficiency.
• Support policy development and workflow improvements; follow HIPAA and OSHA rules.
• Follow up on post-operative appointments to ensure continuity of care.
• Address scheduling conflicts or patient concerns promptly and professionally.
