Job summary

VSP Vision seeks an Optometric Technician in Corvallis, OR to assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient care. You will perform pre-testing, gather patient history, and guide patients through the clinical experience, while working with instruments and technology to support the eye care team.

You will also educate patients on contact lens insertion, manage inventory, and scribe for the doctor. The role is full-time onsite with varied duties and patient interactions throughout the

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience in related field.
• Working knowledge of MS Office package.
• Effective verbal communication skills to prioritize multiple tasks and to be available for incoming calls and inquiries.
• Effective written communication skills to clearly document patient visits.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to ask appropriate and relevant questions to identify patient needs.
• Ability to listen, process transactions and interact with patients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Roles that are remote or hybrid require high engagement in virtual environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient eye care, including pre-testing and taking patient history.
• Operate and train patients on contact lens insertion/removal.
• Order contact lenses and manage trials inventory.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications.
• Scribe for the doctor and translate as needed.
• Prioritize patient care and patient flow while coordinating with doctors and staff.
• Assist in other office duties such as answering phones, checking in patients, and maintaining a clean office environment.
• Participate in special projects and cross-train in different departments.
