Job summary

VSP Vision in Medford, OR is seeking an Optometric Technician to assist the Optometrist during eye examinations, perform pre-testing, record patient histories, and guide patients through their clinical experience.

You will work with ophthalmic instruments, take measurements, administer tests, educate patients on contact lenses, manage trials, dilating drops, scribe for the doctor, and help with insurance and reception as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a related field.
• Proficient in MS Office suite.
• Strong verbal communication skills to prioritize tasks and interact with patients.
• Strong written communication for documenting patient visits.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Optometrist during eye examinations and pre-testing.
• Take patient history information and document in patient records.
• Measure visual function and operate clinical instruments.
• Educate patients on contact lens insertion and removal.
• Manage contact lens orders and inventory; administer dilation medications.
• Scribe for the doctor and support patient flow and communication.
• Assist with insurance verification and front-desk tasks as needed.
