Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant in New York to prepare patients for examinations, perform pre-test diagnostics, and explain each step of the process. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and help initiate the patient journey.

The role covers onsite and remote exam support, medical history collection, insurance preauthorization, and coordination with retail staff to ensure smooth patient flow and care delivery.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect medical history and ocular data into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and explain preliminary tests to patients.
• For remote appointments, guide patients through remote eye exams and document results in EMR.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance and manage appointment books per SOPs.
