Job summary

First Tech Federal Credit Union seeks a Senior Director, Corporate Communications (External) to shape external narratives, protect the organization’s reputation, and advance the brand with members, media, and community stakeholders.

This leadership role partners with internal communications, guiding strategy and leading a high-performing team to deliver strategic campaigns, reporting, and outcomes that enhance trust and market presence.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, and related fields.
• 6+ years’ experience leading a diverse team including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Expert writing, editing, and storytelling; ability to translate complex topics for broad audiences.
• Experience managing collaboration platforms and content operations.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive partnering skills.
• Program and project management discipline; budgeting and vendor oversight.
• Required Education: Bachelor's degree in field relevant to role (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree), advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead an external communications strategy aligned with brand and priorities.
• Create executive visibility and communications for leadership credibility.
• Oversee crisis/issue management communications framework.
• Lead member communications during changes; enhance transparency.
• Lead PR, media relations, and editorial governance for releases.
• Guide annual report and membership meeting communications.
• Manage agencies, vendors, and media-monitoring partnerships.
