• Possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National.
• Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
• Complete a favorable Background Investigation (BI).
• Obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
• Pass pre-employment Drug Screening AND you will be subject to post-employment random drug and alcohol testing.
• Selective Service registration is required.
• Must be available to work various shifts and overtime, as needed.
• Must meet and maintain medical requirements for screening work (including a medical examination and physical abilities assessment), including:
• Ability to manipulate and lift baggage, containers, and objects subject to security processing efficiently and thoroughly.
• Ability to repeatedly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Maintain physical agility to squat, bend, and lean for inspections.
• Walk up to two miles and stand for prolonged periods (3-4 hours).
• Corrected distance vision to 20/30 or better in the best eye and 20/100 or better in the worst eye.
• Hearing ability with an average loss of 25 decibels (ANSI) at specified frequencies.
• Color perception to distinguish principal colors displayed on screens.

Qualifications

To qualify for the SV-G Pay Band (equivalent to GS-10/11), you must have:

• At least one year of experience functioning as a TSO equivalent at the E band level (GS-7/8) or above.

AND

• One year of specialized experience at the E band level (GS-7/8) or above involving instructional methods for formal training or teaching others in designated subjects, such as experience as a TSA Assistant Training Instructor (ATI) or similar roles, including developing training materials, conducting quality reviews, and training sessions.

Experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek; part-time experience is credited proportionally. Experience through collateral duties or special assignments should be documented with specific dates and time percentages.

Volunteer experience, including through National Service programs, is also credited and valuable.

Current or former political appointees must disclose this information as required by OPM.
