Job summary

Animal House Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team at our St. Charles location. We value high-quality care, client service, and a supportive environment where teammates grow together.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Safely handle and restrain patients with care and compassion.
  • Obtain patient histories and vital signs.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for appointments.
  • Assist with diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures.
  • Collect blood and other samples as appropriate to training.
  • Assist with venipuncture and IV catheter placement as appropriate.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Assist with anesthesia monitoring and recovery as needed.
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients.
  • Maintain accurate patient medical records.
  • Communicate clearly with clients and educate them on care plans.
  • Keep treatment areas clean and organized.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
  • Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients

  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Assist with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery as appropriate to your experience and training
  • Provide attentive nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients
  • Educate clients about medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations
  • Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and hospital workspaces clean, organized, and well stocked
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other hospital team members
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through on tasks
  • Support teammates and help maintain an efficient hospital workflow
  • Contribute to a positive experience for every patient and client
What You’ll Bring
  • Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is preferred
